Not everyone has equal opportunity to grow and thrive in the healthcare sector. Over half of new CNAs and PCAs who work in long term care quit before they reach their six month mark.
If the diverse needs of Alaskans pursuing a healthcare career are not met, their talent and passion will die. The current shortage of healthcare providers in Alaska, particularly in the rural and underserved regions, affects the quality and accessibility of health care offered to everyone in the state.
YOU CAN HELP!
SCAHEC matches students with mentors who listen, give advice, coach, and inspire. You can be a mentor who makes a difference! The time commitment is reasonable, no prior experience is necessary, and all backgrounds are welcome. Being a mentor will build lasting and mutually beneficial relationships and contribute to the health and well being of underserved Alaskans.
